    Background of the Office of Central Land Consolidation

    "Office of Central Land Consolidation" was established  by the government realization that on-farm infrastructure needed to be developed for agriculture. Later,water distribution through the main canal, irrigation system, had been invested by government, as well as good could be transported conveniently. Some services were necessary for modern agriculture so that RID's request for help from Netherland was approved by government. In 1966, basic study and survey were organized for the land consolidation in Thailand by Netherland cooperation. At the beginning of 1966, Netherland expert team, from UNESCO, studied and reported the land consolidation should be started in the central region of Thailand as a model project in 1969 at Phak Than Village, Bang Rachan District, Sing Buri Province. It was in Channasut Project covering 160 ha and consequently expanded to a large model project with 1856 ha connecting to the former project. According to the project evaluation, it was found that the project was beneficial very much for farners, therefore, Land Consolidation for Agriculture Act, B.E.(1974) was enacted for land consolidation throughout Thailand as follow :
        1974 Land Consolidation for Agriculture Act was enacted on September 18,1974
        1975 Royal Decree was enacted for government dividing of office of the Permanent Secretary, MOAC on February 1975
       2002 The Revision of Ministries, Sub-Ministries and Departments Act B.E.2545 (2002) was enacted including the Royal Decree Transferring the Administration and Powers and Duties of Government Agencies in accordance with the Revision of Ministries, Sub-Ministries and Department Act B.E. 2545 (2002). Moreover, the Ministerial Regulation on government dividing of the Royal Irrigation Department, MOAC B.E. 2545 (2002) was defined that the office of Central Land Consolidation was responsible to the Royal Irrigation Department, MOAC on 9 October 2002.
    2009 According to RID order no.123/2552 dated on July 19, 2009, job dividing and responsibility of RIO 1-17 and Office of Central Land Consolidation (internal affair), On-farm Operation Projects of RIO 1-17 was transferred to be under the Office of Central Land Consolidation on July 15,2009.
    2011 the Ministerial Regulation on government dividing of the Royal Irrigation Department, MOAC B.E.2554 (2002) was defined that the Office of Central Land Consolidation had the Power and duties of Land consolidation arrangement for agriculture, ditch and dike construction, all kinds of on-farm irrigation system development on December 22,2009.
    At present, the office of central land consolidation is perfectly expert in on-farm irrigation system development.
